Ford Focus Electric: Vehicle Guide

One of the UK’s favourite go-to family cars is available in all-electric form. If you’ve got a Focus Electric or you’re planning on getting one, this is the guide for you.

From charging times to range, there’s a lot to take in when you first step into the world of EVs. But soon, you’ll be an expert. Here are all the important bits you need to know when it comes to your Focus Electric.

Range is one of the most pressing issues with electric cars at the moment. It’s super important to understand what kind of range you need before investing in an EV. However, the numbers are increasing quickly and constantly. And of course, these figures below are just manufacturer’s guidelines. Bear in mind that temperature, weather conditions and driving conditions can affect your car’s potential range.

  • 23kwH battery approximately 100 miles
  • 33.5kWh battery approximately 115 miles

Charging times

Charging times can differ greatly depending on what you’re using to power your vehicle. A standard three-pin plug (wall socket) can take between 5 and 6 hours which is actually ideal for an overnight or weekend charge. However, a dedicated domestic charger like our charge points can take around 3 to 4 hours. We offer both 3.7kW and 7kW charge points which can deliver different amounts of power. If you’re using a service station fast-charging point, the 33.5kWH Focus Electric can charge up to 80% full in just 30 minutes! Regardless of the equipment you use, we’d always recommend charging overnight for peace of mind, unless you’re out and about of course.

Charging and running costs

  • Charging overnight 2p per mile
  • Overnight rate 10p per kWh
  • Charging from empty (at home) £3 for a full charge
